Alejandra Laviada obtuvo su Licenciatura en Bellas Artes en Pintura en la Escuela de Diseño de Rhode Island y su Maestría en Bellas Artes en Fotografía en la Escuela de Artes Visuales de Nueva York. Actualmente reside en París. Laviada comenzó su carrera en la fotografía, antes de expandir su práctica a otros medios. Alejandra Laviada earned her BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York. She currently resides in Paris. Laviada began her career in photography before expanding her practice to other media. She often uses everyday or discarded objects as raw material, which she then transforms into sculptural works. Her multidisciplinary practice moves from the concrete to the abstract and includes photography, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and video. Laviada’s work emerges from the intersection between these different mediums, constantly expanding the boundaries and definitions of each. Her photographic work explores photography’s relationship with sculpture, reflecting on how it can redefine the meaning and materiality of sculpture. Laviada has received numerous awards, including the Premio Descubrimientos from Photo España, the Mexico City Photography Biennial, and the FONCA Jóvenes Creadores scholarship. His work has been widely exhibited and is featured in the permanent collection of the Museo Jumex, the
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico, as well as in several private collections.
